Retail Therapy and our Quilt

With all the recent events and the lack of Travel Approval has led me to the store way more than I should...that being said I could not resist this cute outfit on clearance yesterday and this adorable hat (which is reversable)!


I also wanted to share with everyone a project that we have started on: It is called the Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Wishes Quilt. Here is the letter we have been sharing with our friends and family (and even some friends we have never actually met!)!

Hi friends and family!
As many of you know last year we began the process to adopt a child from China. We are so happy to say that our son is waiting for us in Suzhou, China! We hope to bring him home by August.
We are making a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Wishes Quilt for him to treasure as he grows. Traditionally in the northern part of China, a quilt was constructed of fabric from family and friends who had donated the fabric along with wishes for the child, to welcome and celebrate the new life. More recently this has become a tradition for adoptive parents of Chinese children. With knowing so little about his birth family and community, we know that this will be a cherished keepsake for our son.

We invite you to share in the journey to bring Tim and Jessica’s son, Gabriel Alan XuLu, home from China and participate in creating his 100 Good Wishes Quilt.

If you would like to send a wish and fabric for the 100 Wishes Quilt, please mail one(1) 12" X 12square of cotton cloth (please include a small swatch of the fabric also) -- either something new you pick out or something old of meaning -- and a special wish for Gabe on a note card of your choice. You DO NOT need to attach the material. The wishes will go in a memory album for him along with one of the squares and the other square will be used to make the quilt.
We will be collecting these until we get enough to make his quilt (with the help of Grandma Janice). We hope to finish the quilt by Christmas.
