This petition is to allow adoptive children to be allowed to come to the US for treatment of their TB and stop TB testing for adoptive children. Our Gabe will have to undergo a TB test after we have completed our adoption. If he tests positive, he will have to have a chest x-ray, if that is positive he will not be allowed to come home!! TB is not considered contagious for children under the age of 12, even if they have active TB.
Although this is unlikely there is a family that this has happened to. In 3 days they will have to leave her in China until she tests negative (She is currently not even contageous-her family has been around her for 2 weeks!). There are thousands of visitors who travel to the US everyday and are NOT tested for TB before coming!? This is soley an adoptive family thing. It is not ok for these families to go through this.
